Spring is here and with it comes the onset of Spring Break and music festivals. You might think music festivals are remnants of what Woodstock used to be.

Today's music festivals frequently feature acts who have been on a hiatus with underground followings and die-hard fans who will travel any and everywhere to see their favorite band perform. Also featured are new, independent and raw talent acts often on the verge of crossing over into mainstream. Usually, these music festivals are held in remote locations - in the middle of the desert (Coachella) or up steep mountain tops (Sasquatch) and even in woodlands/ camping grounds (Firefly). It's the ultimate party scene, with booze, drugs, and college kids dancing all night long non-stop.

Memories are created which last a lifetime, some better than others. In 2014 at South by South West (SXSW), more than 20 people were injured and four people were killed when a suspected drunk driver plowed his car into a crowd of partygoers while fleeing police. Most certainly attending a music festival is on the bucket list of most college kids looking to release the stress and pressures of college life.

Just remember in moderation, excess is usually the straw that breaks the camels back.
