I only have a few singers/ celebrities that I hold near and dear to my heart, Aaliyah Dana Haughton is my all time favorite one. Aaliyah burst onto the scene in 1994, with her debut album Age Ain't Nothing But A Number, which soared to double platinum status. Her scandal with R. Kelly almost detoured her career, but she back-tracked the crazy and mad a sharp u-turn, which put her on the path of super producer, Timbaland, and Missy Elliot. Their collaboration produced, One In A Million, which went 8 times platinum world wide. She was featured in several movies Romeo Must Die and Queen of the Damned, which were both box office hits. Her last self-titled album, Aaliyah, was released in 2001, which was also the year that she was snatched away from us .

Aaliyah was killed in a tragic plane crashed and her fans from all over the world mourned. To me, she wasn't just the Princess of R&B, but more of an angel. In my eyes, she could do no wrong & that is how I will always remember her. So when I learned several years back that her fans petitioned MAC to produce a makeup line in her honor, I was thrilled. In the fall of 2016, MAC released a line for the late Selena Quintanilla and it was a commercial success. It only makes sense, to follow up with a limited-edition makeup line to honor a star who was just as big if not bigger. Here is the scoop, the 12 piece collection is available online June 20 and in stores, June 21. The late singer's brother, Rashad Haughton, collaborated with MAC to ensure the collection was spot on. He even shared Aaliyah's personal make-up collection with MAC, so the texture and colors are identical to what she actually wore. Super impressive.

The entire collection kit is featured inside of a dark eggplant purple metallic pyramid and has the Age Ain’t Nothin’ nine-color eye shadow palette, a bronzer, two lipliners, three tubes of lipglass and three lipsticks—a portrait featuring the Princess of R&B herself, as well as her notorious bandanna. The product line is named after her songs and in her memory; Try Again lipstick and Baby girl lipglass, which I thought was a touching sentiment. It is also reasonably priced; Baby Girl bronzing powder $28 and Follow Your Heart lip pencil $18. I feel the entire collection is a must have especially for her fans. So get it while supplies last, you don't want to end up on Ebay trying to find whatever is left being sold 3x's the retail price.
