Now I am somewhat torn about retailer H&M as result of their fiasco with the young black male model and the monkey sweatshirt. I actually have not been inside of an H&M since that incident occurred. I feel that as a African-American consumer I have a responsibility to show retailers that they have to stop with the racist undertones or be held accountable. Hence, I stopped shopping at H&M, Starbucks, Dove and Houston's steakhouse - I would have included the Waffle House, but I never ate there in the first place.

But that is not why I made this post, in spite of how I feel. I am a huge fan of Jeremy Scott and I have been in love with Moschino since high school. This spring at Coachella, Scott announced the collaboration with H&M, I had to do a double take. Then I said to myself, dammit self, why H&M and why now? Well not now, the collaboration will be dropping in November 2018. But still you know what I mean. I am completely torn. I guess I have to take the bitter with the sweet. So here is the sweet. If you don't know who he is, let me introduce Jeremy Scott to you. He is notorious for infusing pop culture logos into his extraordinary designs, something like fashion's Andy Warhol on steroids.

He debut his namesake fashion line in 1997 and hasn't looked back since. He became the creative director of Moschino in 2011. His avant garde style makes him a go-to for celebrities, from Nicki Minaj & Beyonce to Lady Gaga & Katy Perry. He is literally pop culture's fashion designer and has a loyal cult following that snatches up anything he produces. He's had collaborations with Adidas, LongChamp and Swatch. His fashion shows are a must see at fashion week, always guaranteed to be over the top.

And now he is teaming up with H&M who, in my opinion in spite of the racial snafu, holds the title for the best fashion collaborations with the hottest designers: Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli, Versace, Mason Martin Margiela, Balmain, Alexander Wang and the list goes on and on. So what should we expect from the collection??? Well I believe it will hold true to Scott's style aesthetic - cartoony characters, quirky slogans and edgy street style. OF course the line will be affordable, it's H&M for God's sake. But they are being extremely tight lipped about the collections, so we will have to wait for more details as it get closer to the premier of the collection. So mark your calendars, so you don't forget. Don't forget where you heard it from...
