It's that time of year again; hot temperatures, poolside bbq's, and the annual CFDA award's gala. On Monday night at NYC's Hammerstein's ballroom all of the fashion's most elite players pulled up and definitely popped off. The Council of Fashion Designers of America awards ceremony always brings out prominent fashion designers, posh industry insiders and A-list celebrities, and this year was no exception. The event was hosted by Joel McHale and had performances by Jennifer Hudson and Michael C. Hall. Beyonce,,who was in attendance with the family, looked edgy in her black and gold pin-striped Givenchy Tux and-wide brimmed black hat. She won the Fashion Icon Award. During her poignant speech she acknowledged that her mother and her deceased uncle created all of her red carpet outfits earlier in her career and how much more it meant coming from them than anyone else. Awwww, so touching.

Other notable CFDA award winners were Marc Jacobs who won Womenswear Designer of the Year and Thom Brown received award for Menswear Designer of the Year. Geoffrey Beene's Lifetime Achievement Award went to Norma Kamali for all of her work throughout the years in the fashion industry. While David Bowie posthumously won the Board of Directors Special Tribute Award. The award was accepted by Bowie's close friend Tilda Swinton. Michael Hall played his rendition of "Changes" while models strutted across the stage wearing some of Bowie's most Iconic outfits and pictures of David flashed on the projector screens. Definitely was the most memorable performance of the night. But the ultimate reason we look forward to the CFDA award show is the red carper and to see who wearing what. Not to be disappointed, attendees showed off this year - For Real For Real. Alek Wek was a knock out in her black, white and silver revealng V-neck pleated gown and Aquatalia sandals

Naomi Campbell wore a black plunging neck black gown by Brandon Maxwell while she accompanied by the designer. You can never go wrong with Naomi on your arm.

While top models Janice Alida, Grace Bol, Sarah Abney and Drake Burnette all swapped out the typical evening gowns with tux's by CFDA's Menswear Designer of the Year, Thom Brown. And they all look so fetching.

Here is a final pic for the history books, just because she is wearing my all time favorite jewelry designer. Sofia Sanchez de Betak sporting a vintage skirt and Dannijo body bib. One of the most orginal looks all night. Till next year....
