Well it is finally over and we, as a people, have voted for Donald Trump. I am in complete disbelief and utter shock. I have experienced various emotions regarding the outcome of this election - from anger and rage to sadness and grief. But then I had to reflect on what happened during the election overall and how it is a reflection of what is happening to our nation. Over 49% of registered voters did not vote. And that is a direct result of people being disconnected from the election overall. In many voter's perception it was the lesser of two evils and therefor it was a process they did not want to participate in. And there you have it in a nut shell. So now where does that leave us as a nation. Knowing that our new commander in chief is a racist billionaire reality show star. I don't know what his real plans are for the White House other than to "Make America Great Again". I don't know what America he is referring to and to be completely honest I am unconcerned. I am going to continue to strive to implement the values and standards that I have always cherished within my family structure. I will continue to work on my goals as a entrepreneur and build my business from the ground up. I will continue to have faith in my religious and spiritual beliefs knowing the higher power is in control and has always been. I am going to mobilize within my community so we can ignite grass roots campaigns to invoke awareness and knowledge about the causes that directly affect us as a community. We need to become more self-sufficient and self-sustained as a society so we can uphold our levels without assistance from any third parties. We were dependent on subsidies, services and programs established by our local and federal government which can be defunded and cancelled at any time the government determines. That has been the standard routine for too long. It's time to stop depending on others and learn how to depend on yourself. It's time to stop waiting on others to establish a plan of action and develop one yourself. I think we as a community have become to complacent and it's time to stop. And this election is also a blatant reminder of that we have significant work to do with race relations in this country. This election divided us in a manner, which has brought back vicious scenes from the civil rights era. Very shameful as a nation. Although we had Barack Obama in office over eight years we still have so far to go as a nation on the racial divide. I pray that this election will wake us up and jolt us into reality. We as a people have to be committed to progress and upward mobility. We have to understand "United we Stand, but divided We Fall".....
