I am not a psychic, but I basically predicted this collaboration. Now if I could just figure out the winning Mega-Millions jackpot numbers. LOL. When Alessandro Michele, Gucci's creative director, was called out on social media for sending a bomber jacket, that strongly resembled Dapper Dan's former creation, down the runway at Gucci's 2018 Cruise collection back in May 2017; I saw the formation of this collab in the makings. This incident exposed yet another example of the blatant appropriation, that the fashion industry has seized from the urban hip hop culture. But this time fashion house, Gucci, ultimately paid for their misstep and we as consumers should be elated, well at least the men should be.

Gucci has announced they are collaborating with Dapper Dan to create a capsule collection to be sold in Gucci stores worldwide next spring. In addition, Gucci is also sponsoring the opening a new Dapper Dan studio and atelier and will supply the designer with raw materials. This is a huge step up from the past when designers, such as Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford blatantly peculated from the urban culture and claim the conceptions as their own. SMH. Dapper Dan will also be featured in Gucci’s Autumn/Winter 2017 menswear global campaign, captured by the world renowned photographer Glen Luchford.

Gucci’s is also extending it's network of collaborations include Trouble Andrew, aka Gucci Ghost, and Coco Capitán I want to commend Gucci for finally acknowledging Dapper Dan, a style originator an urban fashion icon. As well giving him a platform to showcase his artistry and reclaim his place in the fashion industry. I am thrilled about the collection and I cant wait to see more...
